Officials from Pakistan Customs said that the consignment was processed entirely through PSW system, marking another advancement in the country’s customs digitisation drive, Gwadar Pro reported. The consignment was cleared electronically through the Pakistan Single Window system after the Export Processing Zone was activated as a TIR station. The FBR statement said the Directorate General of Transit Trade, Karachi, led the customs system upgrade in coordination with the Pakistan Single Window, TIR operators, PNCC-ICC and the IRU.

This decision follows amendments made to the instructions regarding ‘Imports under PSW, "Financial Instrument Details’ and ‘Guarantees on behalf of Residents of Pakistan in Favour of Non-Residents’ in the Foreign Exchange Manual. According to the revised guidelines, authorised dealers (banks) will communicate the details of import transactions using electronic data interchange (EDI) with the PSW.
